WOBURN, MA — On the afternoon of April 27, iSTEAM Academy joined forces with EA Education, EA Media, and the Silk Road Center to co-host the "From the Star" Charity Concert at Woburn High School. The event drew a warm and enthusiastic audience, uniting the Greater Boston community around a shared mission: supporting autism research and the families it touches.
A Mission Close to iSTEAM's Heart
For iSTEAM Academy — a nonprofit dedicated to providing STEAM and robotics education to students of all abilities, including those with special needs — co-hosting this event was a natural extension of its core values. The organization has long championed inclusivity and accessibility in education, offering free robotics programs to special needs students across Massachusetts. Participating in a concert that raises funds and awareness for autism research reflects the very spirit that drives iSTEAM's work every day.
An Afternoon of Art, Culture, and Compassion
The concert was a vibrant, multicultural celebration featuring more than a dozen performances spanning Chinese classical dance, K-pop, modern dance, string quartets, martial arts, traditional instrument solos, and poetry recitations. The program opened with a lively opening dance number and closed with a rousing full-cast chorus of the original theme song "From the Star" — with organizing committee members and audience members singing together on stage.
Throughout the afternoon, performers of all ages took the spotlight, from young student musicians making their debut to seasoned artists showcasing traditional Chinese instruments. A charity sale ran alongside the performances, adding a festive and community-driven atmosphere to the event.
$15,000 Raised — First Donation Delivered On-Site
The event raised a combined $15,000 through ticket sales, fundraising, and the on-site charity sale. In a meaningful moment during the concert, the first installment of $5,000 was presented on-site to the Synapse Program at Boston Children's Hospital, a research initiative focused on autism-related science. The remaining funds will continue to support autism research and outreach efforts in the months ahead.
Community at the Core
The concert was made possible by a dedicated organizing committee of over 30 students, parents, and community volunteers, who collectively managed everything from ticketing and stage coordination to photography, ushering, and media coverage. It was a true grassroots effort — a testament to what a community can accomplish when united by a common cause.
iSTEAM Academy expressed deep gratitude to all performers, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who made the event a success.
"Though the concert has come to an end, love and compassion will continue. Let us keep moving forward together, creating a brighter future for the children from the stars."
